About Me

Poet.
Writer.
Entrepreneur.
Sacha Wise is her real name. She uses words like drops of water to nourish herself and others around her that are tired from the journey of life. Her main passion lies in empowerment of women, because she is a woman who often needs empowerment herself as she figures out life, not by looking into a mirror to see only light, shallow reflections, but by looking in a deeper, darker place where many want to hide it's ugliness from others. She is happy to reveal herself for others, even with all of her uncertainty of the destination, in the hope it will reveal humanness.

She has been writing poetry in the form of lyrics from the age of 13, which later were transformed like a butterfly into poetry. At 26, she memorised her poem on the subject of domestic violence and was on a bus in Nottingham, on the way to a rehearsal for her first official performance which was to be held the following day, when she saw a domestic violence demonstration. She jumped off the bus, and was stunned by the enormous coincidence of the two random events that crossed to a pinnacle in her life, at that moment. Terrified, she bravely asked if she could share her poem in front of the large audience that had gathered that day for her very unexpected, first spoken word poetry performance. They gave her the microphone to speak and she did, she almost cried, but she did. Above is the photo of her first ever performance which caused her to fall in love with the art form of spoken word.

Since then, she has featured and performed her poetry all over England, in New York, Boston, and California. She won Nottingham Poetry Society Slam 2013 and she has had her poems published in several poem anthologies. She has been awarded the Nottingham Roosevelt Travelling Scholarship for three months which sent her to the United States to pursue her passions of spoken word and the empowerment of women. She has set up a monthly spoken word event in Nottingham called 'Spoken Word Sunday' and is part of the team that produces 'Say Sum Thin' theatre shows at the Nottingham Playhouse. She is a proud member of the Mouthy Poets collective, who go from strength to strength to slowly take over the world using spoken word poetry and big hugs.

She also owns her own business, and she classes herself to be a serial entrepreneur. She believes in full development of all of your talents and believe permanent success comes once you develop yourself to the point where you have no other option but to succeed. Success is measured in many different, practical ways by different people but the most important definition is your own. Don't let anyone else try to define the beauty that is you. Don't allow conventional limits to keep your innovative ideas contained. Believe in yourself more than anyone else does so you can stay on an unconventional path of your choosing. You have the opportunity everyday to create your world by your thoughts, and then by your actions.

So hear the words of Sacha Wise, then go out and change the world with yours.
